Stuffed McIntosh Apples

6 medium Mcintosh Apples

1 lemon wedged

6 tbsp butter, chilled

1 cup dark brown sugar

¼ tsp nutmeg

½ tsp cinnamon

½ cup walnut pieces

½ cup flour

½ cup oatmeal

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.  Trim a slice off the bottom of the apple, for a flat surface.  Cut the tops off the apples and trim away about ½ inch of skin from the top rim.  Hollow out the apples a little wider then the core, but do not puncture the bottom.  Rub the top and the cavity with a wedge of lemon to stop browning.  In mixing bowl combine all other ingredients.  Mixture should be crumbly.  Pack into the apples.  Place apples in shallow dish.  Add ¼ inch of water to dish.  Cook apples for 17 to 20 minutes or until filling bubbles and apples are tender not soft.  Remove from oven and serve hot or room temp.
