Apple Cheddar Turnover

¼ to ½ cup unsalted butter

½ cup sugar

¼ cup water

3 to 4 large apples

12 pieces potato bread

shredded cheddar cheese, to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Melt butter in large frying pan.  Stir in sugar and water, bring to a boil.  Peel, quarter, and core apples.  When butter and sugar mixture is a caramel color, carefully drop in the apples.  Coat apple with mixture.  Leave in until tender.  Check for tenderness with a knife.  The knife must easily go in and come out.  Cool the apples on a plate.  Reserve left over caramel in a measuring cup.  Remove crust from bread.  Drizzle with cheese only on one side.  With a rolling pin smash cheese into bread, entire bread will be thinner.  Flip the bread over and place an apple in the center and add a little of the caramel.  Fold bread to form a triangle.  Lightly moisten the edges and press to seal.  Bake until golden brown.
