Marmes Christmas Cookies

1 cup Butter

2 cup Sugar

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

2 Eggs

4 cups Flour

2 tsp Baking powder

1/2 tsp 

Cream butter to consistensy of mayonnaise. Add sugar gradually while continuing to cream. Add vanilla and eggs. Beat until light. Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt: blend in, Chill several hours until firm wnough to roll. Roll out about 1/4 at a time on lightly floured board or canvas, to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into christmas shapes. Decorate with colored sugar. Bake at 325 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool on racks.
