Onion Blossom

 

1 lrg. sweet onion

3 cups flour

2 pks dry Ranch dressing

2 pks tempura mix

2 cups soda water

 

Mix flour and ranch in a large bowl. Mix tempura and soda water in another large bowl.  Stir until only little lumps remain.  Set aside both bowls.  Cut the onion by snipping root.  That will be the bottom of blossom.  Leave root side up when cutting the rest of the onion.  Cut onion in from the sides.  Cut into 1/8th if possible.  Cover onion with flour mixture then set into the tempura/soda mixture.  Cover entire blossom.  Carefully put into hot oil.  Leave in until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
